Raw Silk Kimono

Our Raw Silk Kimono is every bohemian dream. The ultimate lightweight layer, this beauty is inspired by the traditional Japanese kimono with a FARA twist. FABRIC + CARE

100% Wild Silk. A raw hand-woven silk from Varanasi, India. Known as Vegan Silk because it uses an empty cocoon to protect the silkworm.

• Mid-weight, non-stretchy fabric

• Wild (raw) silk has a hardier, rougher texture than normal silk

Glamorous, drapey and sumptuously soft, our raw silk and 100% silk pieces are hand-dyed, delicate yet strong, and if cared for properly they will last for many years to come.

For optimum results, we always recommend to Dry Clean our Silk Products, although you can hand wash, you must be aware that the colours could slightly run.

If you do chose to handwash, to preserve these elegant pieces and give them the care they deserve, we recommend doing so with a silk-friendly detergent:

1. Fill a basin with cool or cold water and gently soak your FARA piece.

2. Add a few drops of a gentle silk detergent.

3. Silk releases dirt quickly, so you can stir a few times, then drain the soap mix and rinse with cool or cold water. 

4. Do not wring out your silk pieces. Place the wet item on a cotton towel and gently press out excess water. 

5. Hang dry using a velvet or satin hanger, hang up your piece in the shower or tub and let it drip dry. Your FARA piece should be ready to wear again in about an hour!

If silk is handled correctly it is durable and long lasting, but the yarn becomes porous and damaged if treated incorrectly. Avoid spraying perfume or deodorant on the garment and never expose silk to direct sunlight.
